Wrongful Conviction Compensation Claims – Effective July 1, 2025

On May 14, 2025, Governor Kemp signed into law the “Wrongful Conviction and Incarceration Compensation Act.” This new legislation will authorize the Office of State Administrative Hearings (OSAH) to consider claims of wrongful conviction and incarceration, and to award compensation to those individuals who meet the statutory requirements.
Things to Know:
The law goes into effect July 1, 2025No claims will be accepted until that date. Check back here in the coming weeks for additional information on how to submit a claim.
This new law is limited to individuals who have been convicted of a felony by a court of this state and have served all or part of their sentence for the felony.
